Fiat "512 torpedo", 1926

Intermediate model of the gamma FIAT, the 512 was presented in 1926 as an evolution of the previous 510, launched in 1919, in the years immediately after the Big War. Despite the basic mechanic was kept, including the side valve motor already gone over, the new version introduced a technical innovation relevant for the period: the expansion brakes on the whole four wheels. Produced in different body configurations – berlina, torpedo, coupé de ville, cabriolet, landaulet and limousine – the FIAT 512 addressed an exigent customer and of high range. It obtained a big success in the foreign markets.
Luciano Nicolis said with pride: “This 512 was newfound in the 1970s in the Philippines, where its previous owner, Mr. Carl George, a businessman with numerous commercial activities, entrusted trust to a complete restoration in England. Fell in love with his car; he wanted to bring it back to its ancient splendor. The restoration, last five years, was realized with great care and the auto preserves still today many original parts, such as the motor and instrumentation”.
This elegant FIAT 512 is nowadays part of Museo Nicolis permanent collection.
Curiosity: in the official list Fiat of the time, the model Torpedo had a prize of 43.000 Lire.
