{"id":8837,"date":"2016-02-04T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-02-04T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/museonicolis.com\/?p=8837"},"modified":"2024-07-12T14:11:13","modified_gmt":"2024-07-12T12:11:13","slug":"cisitalia-850","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.museonicolis.com\/en\/cisitalia-850\/","title":{"rendered":"Cisitalia, 1963, 850 GT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Cisitalia &#8220;850 GT&#8221;, 1963<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Cisitalia (i.e.\u00a0<strong>C<\/strong>ompagnia<strong> I<\/strong>ndustriale<strong> S<\/strong>portiva<strong> Italia<\/strong>) was founded in Turin in <strong>1946<\/strong> by\u00a0<strong>Piero Dusio<\/strong>\u00a0with the purpose to manufacture simple and\u00a0economic racing cars.<br \/>\nSupported by Piero <strong>Taruffi<\/strong>\u2019s advice, Dusio made his first racing appearance with the 1,100cc small and fast single-seater <strong>D46,<\/strong> his first creation, at the Brezzi Cup on Sept. 3, 1946, in Turin. Seven cars were given to seven great drivers: <strong>Nuvolari,<\/strong> Taruffi, Biondetti, Cortese, Sommer, Chiron, and Dusio himself. It was a great race with three cars ending in the first three places.<br \/>\nSoon after the <strong>202<\/strong> Coup\u00e9, designed by Pinin Farina, started being built: it became a legend, so much so that one is still exhibited at the\u00a0<strong>Museum of Modern Art in New York<\/strong> as an example of self-moving sculpture. In <strong>1964<\/strong> Cisitalia stopped the production.<br \/>\nThe <strong>850 GT coupes<\/strong> and <strong>spiders<\/strong> were the last Cisitalias manufactured before the factory closed permanently. The mechanical components derived directly from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.museonicolis.com\/en\/fiat-600-d-coup-viotti\/\"><strong>Fiat 600<\/strong><\/a> with the engine displacement increased to 850cc, front disc brakes and higher performances.
