{"id":42427,"date":"2018-03-09T10:45:25","date_gmt":"2018-03-09T09:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.museonicolis.com\/en\/panis-olivier-francia\/"},"modified":"2020-08-04T13:41:09","modified_gmt":"2020-08-04T11:41:09","slug":"panis-olivier-francia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.museonicolis.com\/en\/panis-olivier-francia\/","title":{"rendered":"Panis Olivier &#8211; FRANCE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Olivier Denis Panis<\/b>\u00a0(Oullins,\u00a02 September 1966) is a French racing driver.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After\u00a0paying his dues in<strong> minor races<\/strong>, and between them we remember the <strong>victory<\/strong> of <strong>Formula 3000<\/strong> in 1993, he <strong>debuted<\/strong> in <strong>Formula 1<\/strong> in <strong>1994<\/strong>. In F1 he <strong>won<\/strong> only at <strong>Monaco Grand Prix<\/strong> in 1996 and reached a 8th place in driver standings as best result.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">French driver Olivier Panis is known by the nickname &#8220;<strong>Panique<\/strong>&#8220;, meaning &#8220;panic&#8221;, given to him by his fellow competitors and his fans alike, thanks to a <strong>spectacular race<\/strong> he masterfully drove during the <strong>1996 San Marino Grand Prix<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Steering Wheels<\/b>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1994<\/strong> was Panis&#8217; <strong>rookie year<\/strong> in the world of <strong>Formula 1<\/strong>, and was a member of the French team <strong>Ligier<\/strong>. The<strong> JS39B<\/strong> car which once had this steering wheel in our collection was not very competitive, despite its Renault engine. Nevertheless, the Frenchman surprised may with his <strong>consistency<\/strong>, crossing the finish line in the first six races of the season and finally getting on the <strong>podium<\/strong> at the <strong>German Grand Prix<\/strong> and a 6th and 5th place respectively at the Hungarian and Australian Grands Prix.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1995<\/strong> was a<strong> great season<\/strong> for Panis, thanks also to a <strong>great car (JS41)<\/strong> that, according to experts, was a copy of the excellent Benetton B195, the best car of the Italian team. In that memorable season Panis came <strong>secon<\/strong>d in the last race at the <strong>Australian GP<\/strong>, but also obtained two 6th places, two 4th places and a 5th place respectively at the Spanish, Hungarian, Canadian, British and, finally, Japanese Grands Prix.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1997<\/strong> was a year full of <strong>surprises<\/strong> for Panis and the <strong>Ligier<\/strong> team: before the season began, <strong>Briatore<\/strong>, the <strong>owner<\/strong> of the <strong>French company<\/strong>, <strong>sold <\/strong>the<strong> team<\/strong> to four-time world champion <strong>Alain Prost<\/strong>, who <strong>renamed<\/strong> it with his own name. The car to which this the steering wheel in our collection belonged, the new <strong>JS45<\/strong>, proved to be <strong>quite competitive<\/strong>, but unfortunately the French driver suffered an <strong>accident<\/strong> during the Canadian GP (he fractured both legs) and was only able to drive again from the Luxembourg Grand Prix.
