{"id":24713,"date":"2017-02-04T17:01:21","date_gmt":"2017-02-04T16:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.museonicolis.com\/en\/henderson-1300-de-luxe\/"},"modified":"2024-07-16T12:35:02","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T10:35:02","slug":"henderson-1300-de-luxe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.museonicolis.com\/en\/henderson-1300-de-luxe\/","title":{"rendered":"Henderson, 1925, 1300 De Luxe"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>Henderson &#8220;1300 De Luxe&#8221;, 1925, USA<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Henderson was not the first 4-cylinder motorcycle built in the US, but it&#8217;s probably the best known. <strong>Bill and Tom Henderson<\/strong>\u00a0started making motorcycles in\u00a0<strong>1912<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<strong>Detroit. <\/strong>The first bikes had odd peculiarities, such as the passenger seat on the tank, in front of the driver, that soon was moved to its classic position.<br \/>\nIn\u00a0<strong>1917<\/strong>\u00a0the Henderson brothers had to sell their company to\u00a0<strong>Ignatz Schwinn<\/strong>, the owner of Excelsior. The\u00a0<strong>Excelsior-Henderson<\/strong>\u00a0in the mid 1920s is the third motorcycle producer after Indian and Harley-Davidson. The company closed in September 1931, worn out by the Great Depression.
