Hall 1881

Name :Hall

Type :pantograph

Year of construction :1881

Invented by : Thomas Hall in Brooklyn (NY). Despite the fact the first project dates back to 1860 this machine was not patented or sold until 1881. Made by the “Hall Typewriter Co” in Salem – Massachusetts and later the “National Typewriter Co” in Philadelphia. It went out of production in 1890.

Country :USA

Curios : Kept in a walnut case with lock. A roll of paper could be used instead of single sheets. Only a few examples were made due to the high costs and difficulty in using the machine.
